Sew a short cape – a custom pattern

This pattern makes a short cape based on an 19th century design and goes well with everything!

The cape is relatively lightweight and won’t cause any strain on your shoulders. This pattern also makes for a great summer cape when made from a thinner fabric. Or why not make it from waterproof fabric as a way to keep dry even in the harshest of rain! Each pattern is made to order to your exact measurements and is available for all shapes, ages and sizes.

Each cape pattern is bespoke and made to your measurements to ensure a perfect fit.

The pattern comes with options for two different types of collars and has detailed instructions, so you get to choose how you want yours to look.

As I won’t personally be able to take your measurements, you need to watch this how-to-measure video to make sure that the measurements you send me are the exact ones that I need for your pattern to fit as intended.

FABRIC SUGGESTIONS

For a warm cape I recommend using vadmal, tabby wool or other heavier wools – If you’re in Sweden or want to order from overseas check out Korps – Their recycled wools are incredible. If you have a larger budget their fine vadmal is unmatched. If you’d rather like a light cape linen is a good choice – the options are endless! At korps you can also find clasps, ribbons and thread. You can also make your cape exclusive as heck by lining it with their silks.

With a tighter budget polar fleece is a good option – In Sweden/Europe Selfmade is a good option. They of course have clasps, ribbons and thread as well.

The pattern and the instructions are both in PDF formats and can be printed on any home printer.

You will receive your cape pattern within 1-7 days after payment, delivered to the email you provide on the order form below.

For questions, please contact me via the contact page instead. This pattern has no seam allowances included – these are written on the pattern for you to add yourself. This way, you can easily have bigger/smaller seam allowances. The pattern is in CENTIMETRES only.
